Frequently asked questions
Is this audio cutter really free?
Yes. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no file size limit set by us. Very long files (over about an hour) may be too big for a phone's memory.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The cutting and the MP3 encoding happen inside your browser on your own device. Your audio never leaves it.
Which formats can I open and save?
You can open anything your browser can play: usually MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, FLAC and OGG (older Safari versions can't open OGG). You can save as MP3 (128, 192 or 320 kbps) or as a lossless 16-bit WAV.
How do I make a ringtone?
Pick the best 20–30 seconds, add a 1-second fade in and fade out, and save as MP3. On iPhone, ringtones need the M4R format, so import the MP3 into GarageBand and export it as a ringtone.
Can I convert a file without cutting it?
Yes. Leave the selection covering the whole file and choose MP3 or WAV. The tool works as a free audio converter too.
MP3 encoding uses LAME (lame.sourceforge.io, LGPL) via lamejs. Your files are processed on your device and never uploaded.
